Élise FÉRON

Élise FÉRON is invited and visiting Professor of Political Science at the Université Catholique de Louvain, senior lecturer in Comparative Politics at the Institut d’Etudes Politiques (IEP) in Lille, and associated researcher at the Centre Interdisciplinaire de Recherche
(CIR) in Paris. She also teaches at the University of Silesia (Katowice, Poland). Since 2000, she has been working on several projects funded under the 4th and 5th Framework Programmes of the European Commission, and is the scientic co-ordinator of a research project funded by the 6th Framework Programme called “PEACE-COM – Peace processes in community conflicts: From understanding the roots of conflicts to conflicts resolution”. She has worked and published extensively in the field of conflict studies, especially on the Northern Irish conflict. She obtained her Accreditation to Supervise Research in 2003, and her Ph.D. (political sciences) in Lille in 1999. Her research interests include: community
conflicts in Europe, identity issues, the conflict in Northern Ireland. Her recent publications include: Religions and Conflicts: Religions as Root Causes or as Triggering Factors? (Critique Internationale, 22, January 2004); The new Hundred Years Wars (International Social Science Journal, September 2003, 177, in collaboration with Michel Hastings); L’imaginaire des conflits communautaires (Paris, L’Harmattan, 2002, in collaboration with Michel Hastings); La Harpe et la Couronne; L’imaginaire politique du conflit nord-irlandais (Villeneuve d’Ascq, Presses Universitaires du Septentrion, 2000). Elise Féron will be the Research Director of the project.
