1. Welcome to the about-once-a-month INFOCON newsletter

Dear colleague,

With this issue of the INFOCON newsletter I draw your attention to a series of research outputs that are available for download in our output section. Besides a summary of the discussions at our last conference in Nijmegen, we have published three in-depth documents on diaspora-related issues (see below). If you would like to find out more about the research carried out by INFOCON and similar research on the European level, get out your agenda and mark the 16th and 17th of December 2010, the dates of our next conference!

2. Nijmegen conference proceedings and research reports ready for download

The second International INFOCON conference (22 & 23 april 2010 in Nijmegen) saw vivid discussions between researchers and civil society representatives on issues like the integration of diaspora organisations in the development sector and the role of diaspora communities in the Kosovo conflict. Click here to view a summary of the conference

In addition, we are proud to present you the final versions of the INFOCON research reports, one of the key outputs of our project. The three reports are available in our output section:

Deliverable 3. Transnational Communities and Conflict Policies constitutes the output of the third work package of INFOCON under the lead of Kent University (Hugh Miall, Anna Ornert and Dogus Simsek, with contributions by Flutura Kusari, Armend Bekaj and Liridon Shurdani).

Deliverable 4. Factors Influencing Migrants’ Engagement with Transnational Economic Activities in Post-Conflict Countries? Linking Motives for Remittances and Investment from the Supply and the Demand Side (Nienke Regts, Marieke van Houte and Ruerd Ruben).

Deliverable 5. Beyond the Core Conflict: New Minorities, New Confrontations & New Policies written by Nathalie Perrin and Marco Martiniello.

3. Joint DIASPEACE/INFOCON conference on diaspora issues in Brussels

You are heartily invited to participate in the international conference on diaspora- and conflict-related issues which will be held on December 16-17 2010 in Brussels. The event will be jointly organized by the two FP7 projects INFOCON and DIASPEACE. The first day of the conference is mainly directed at academics and will be the occasion to present and discuss the results that emerged during the three years of intensive research by both projects. The second day targets European policy makers that work on diaspora and conflict issues. If you would like to participate in the conference, please write us at stephan@internationalistfoundation.org.
